November 2011 Meeting:
Aid
organizations, governments and even recipients of services in the third world
have long complained about the efficacy of developmental projects. Given the vast resources plowed into developmental
activities and the dire needs, it is imperative that such projects are
cost-effective, finish on time and provide the specified deliverables. Unfortunately, the theory to guide such projects is not
well developed. In this research, Sameer and Lauren
rely on qualitative methodology in our attempt to provide a model for
non-profit organizations.
Sameer
Prasad is a Professor of Operations Management at the University of Wisconsin –
Whitewater. Sameer has published extensively in the
area of quality management, international
operations, supply chain management and inventory control. His research has appeared in a number of outlets including
Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, European Journal of
Operational Research, OMEGA and so on.
Lauren Burkhardt is a senior in the Operations Management program at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with an emphasis in project management. She will be graduating in December of 2011. Lauren is the president of UWW APICS and is a member of the management honorary society, Sigma Iota Epsilon, at UWW. She is the recipient of the 2009 ISM scholarship. She can be contacted at BurkhardLD28@uww.edu@uww.
